Biological artificial valve for replacement of a diseased native aortic or mitral valve.

Characteristics

  • Biological cardiac valve prostheses are indicated for patients over 65 years of age who suffer from some type of valvular heart disease: Stenosis, Regurgitation, Incompetence or insufficiency (or their combination), Replacement of a previously implanted prosthesis that does not function properly.
  • The main objectives of this type of prosthesis are: Improve the effective valve area, Decrease the pressure gradient and Improve hemodynamic performance.
  • This leads to reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with valvular disease.
  • This type of valve prosthesis does not require the use of anticoagulants, which reduces the risk of hemorrhagic processes in patients.
  • The Perceval Plus model biological aortic valve prosthesis is made from animal-derived (bovine) pericardium and is mounted on a nitinol frame.
  • It does not require fixation points because it rests on the wall of the aorta.
  • It is kept in a liquid called Paraben, free of aldehydes.
  • It does not require pre-implantation washing. Its anti-calcification treatment system is called FREE and allows the valve not to deteriorate over time, it is tested to last more than 10 years.
  • It is the sutureless valve with the largest volume and longest follow-up time (more than 100,000 patients implanted with more than 13 years of follow-up).
  • It has approval from the European Community (CE) and the FDA. Available sizes: Small – Medium – Large – Xtra Large.
  • Use an Implant Set (collapsor), in addition to the valve size testers, to select the most suitable one.
