The laboratory-scale MT 174 sorting plant is an example of an application for a variety of maintenance tasks. It is equipped with industry-standard components. The separation process is carried out using a drum screen, which divides the material to be segregated into three fractions. The fine fraction is separated by colour. Maintenance work is carried out on the drive trains of the various elements, and different maintenance intervals have been established for these trains. In addition, the plant includes three different types of gears. One of the gears has a heating device and a temperature sensor, which triggers a maintenance message if the set limit value is exceeded. To control the sorting plant, a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is used via a touch screen. The system offers two modes of operation: the operating mode and the training mode. In the training mode, time-controlled and sensor-controlled maintenance work is simulated. In addition, a signal light and messages on the PLC indicate the need to take action.
